Rajkummar Rao calls for stringent laws against deepfake videos

Actor Rajkummar Rao has weighed in on the concerning trend of Deepfake videos, stressing the importance of implementing strict measures to address the issue.

Deepfake videos, created using artificial intelligence, have targeted numerous celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh. Amid ongoing discussions surrounding this matter, Rajkummar Rao has shared his perspective.

Rajkummar Rao, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film "Srikanth," voiced his concerns about Deepfake videos and emphasized the necessity of taking decisive action to prevent their misuse. He highlighted the significance of educating the public about the applications of AI, noting that only a small fraction of the population is familiar with it.

Speaking to ANI, he remarked, "If someone misuses it or anything, there should be very strict laws," advocating for measures to deter misuse of the technology.

Additionally, Rajkummar Rao discussed his reaction upon hearing the story of Srikanth, the protagonist of his upcoming film. He expressed admiration for Srikanth Bolla's remarkable achievements despite visual impairment, describing it as an inspiring tale.

"When I got to know about Srikanth's life, when I first heard his story from Tushar, I was also very moved. I was very inspired that a person achieved so much at such a young age despite being visually impaired,” he said.

Rajkummar Rao plays the role of Srikanth Bolla, depicting his journey of overcoming obstacles to establish Bollant Industries. The film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, also features Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar in significant roles.

Scheduled for release on May 10, "Srikanth" is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in collaboration with T-Series Films & Chalk N Cheese Films Production LLP. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani, the film aims to inspire and entertain audiences with Srikanth Bolla's extraordinary story.
