Congress unveils Lok Sabha poll campaign song centered on 'nyay'

New Delhi: The Congress party launched its campaign song for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the principle of "Nyay" or justice for various segments of society including women, youth, farmers, and laborers.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh and spokesperson Supriya Shrinate introduced the song titled "Hum Saath Hain To Haath Ye Halat Badal Dega" at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters.

During the event, the leaders discussed the progression of the party's campaign slogans. They began with "mere vikas ka do hisaab" (accountability for development) and transitioned to "haath badlega halaat" (changing the situation). The latter is anchored in the concept of five kinds of "nyay" or justice: naari nyay (justice for women), kisaan nyay (justice for farmers), yuva nyay (justice for the youth), shramik nyay (justice for laborers), and hissedaari nyay (justice through participation).

Ramesh highlighted the distribution of the party's "nyay patra" or justice charter to eight crore households. "About 80 per cent of the cards have been distributed in the constituencies that go to polls on April 19," he informed.

He also commented on the impact of Congress's justice charter on the ruling BJP, stating, "Our nyay patra has rattled the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 'forced' Narendra Modi to use language that is unbecoming of a prime minister and use it for injecting a communal atmosphere into the campaign."

Shrinate elaborated on the campaign's foundation, saying, "Our election campaign is based on the five pillars of justice, which the Congress has promised. These pillars of justice have been prepared by talking to the people, keeping in mind their dreams and hopes. We are talking about every issue on which Modiji has cheated people."
