Delhi Woman Cop rescues 76 missing children; gets an 'Out Of Turn Promotion'

Woman head constable of Delhi has been promoted before the time for finding 76 missing children in nearly three months.

Ms Seema Dhaka, posted as Head Constable at northwest Delhi's Samaypur Badli Police station, is the first police personnel of Delhi Police, who has been given OTP (out-of-turn promotion) for tracing missing children under a new incentive scheme. The city police commissioner has made the announcement regarding this.

Over 50 of the traced children are under the age of 14. Seema has rescued children from Delhi, West Bengal and Punjab and sent them safely back home. She recounted the rescuing of a minor from a village in West Bengal in October this year as one of the most challenging operations. She said the child was rescued after crossing two rivers during the floods.

Being a mother, she says, it was easier for her to bond with the children. "I have an eight-year-old son. I could feel what the children felt on being separated from their parents, what the parents felt on losing their children. That motivated me to work harder," said Seema.

Seema Dhaka has also dealt with cases where teenagers left their homes after having fights with their parents and later got into drugs and alcohol. She says the children are properly counselled after deliverance.

Lauding the cop's achievement, many including Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava and actress Richa Chadha shared tweets and congratulatory notes on social media.
