Raigad: A helicopter, which was to transport Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare, crashed while landing at an unidentified location in Mahad town in Raigad district of Maharashtra on Friday, NDTV reported.
A footage showed the chopper coming down to land before wobbling and losing control.
Afterwards it crashed with a loud sound raising huge clouds of dust.
The pilot of the chopper jumped off the chopper and survived, but the rotary-winger was badly damaged in the crash.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot to probe the incident.
Sushma Andhare went to her scheduled campaign meetings in a car.
