ICC Men's T20I WC: Rohit to lead India; Hardik vice-captain

New Delhi: The 15-member squad for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 has been announced. The team is to be led by Rohit Sharma, and Kerala's own Sanju Samson, the star skipper of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, is also included as a Wicket Keeper-batter, along with Rishabh Pant. The tournament will start rolling from June 1 and is scheduled at venues in the West Indies and the USA.

The tournament will end on June 29th only.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya will be Rohit's deputy in the showpiece event.

India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by the marquee clash against Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.

India will then play the USA and Canada on June 12 and 15, respectively.

The strong squad with many talents including the likes of brutal Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) and Yashaswi Jaiswal. Both have exhibited their prowess in the ongoing IPL so far. Power hitter Shivam Dube and experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja would be cool add-ons for the Men-in-Blue. Spinners Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have exhibited good figures in the ongoing IPL. Arshdweep Singh and Mohd. Siraj has excellent experience with T20s as well. Finally, Jasprit Bumrah is where India's bowling department rests.
