New Delhi: The retail price of diesel was hiked Rs.0.95 a litre in Delhi with corresponding increase in other states, effective midnight, state-run Indian Oil Corp announced on Thursday. Petrol prices have been left unchanged.
"After the change, the price of diesel in Delhi will be Rs.45.90 a litre," IOC said making the fortnightly revision in fuel prices by oil marketing companies.
"The current level of international prices and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision," the statement added.
Diesel per litre from Friday will cost Rs.49.52 in Kolkata, Rs.53.09 in Mumbai and Rs.47.07 in Chennai.
The Indian basket of crude oils traded on Wednesday at $46.86 for a barrel of close to 160 litres.
