Bengaluru: As India is settling down to normal after two years of the raging pandemic, room for online education shrinks and learning platforms are opening physical tuition centres. The trend, earlier opted by Byju's, is now going to be adopted by 'Unacademy'. The latter announced the same on Wednesday, IANS reported.

Unacademy said in a statement that their offline tuitions are to set up classes for NEET-UG, IT JEE and Foundation (9-12) course categories. The first of their centres is to be opened in Kota in a month. It will be followed by centres in Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Patna, Pune and Delhi, the statement said.

Gaurav Munjal, the Co-Founder and CEO of the Unacademy Group, said, "With 'Unacademy Centres, ' we will bring the best of Unacademy -- India's top Educators, best-in-class technology and product, and state-of-the-art infrastructure -- for our learners,"

Unacademy targets 15,000 enrollments in the first batch across its centres. It will conduct a national scholarship admission test for batch enrollments where rankers can win scholarships.

This move is because these online platforms are failing to do business with the online model. Many platforms have shut down operations and have fired employees in recent days. Unacademy alone has laid off nearly 600 employees, contractual workers and educators. That was 10 per cent of its 6000 strong workforces. WhiteHat Jr shut its schools division while Lido Learning laid off nearly a thousand employees.
