Unlike its contemporary Minecraft, Epic Games will not be banning NFTs from its gaming platforms. CEO Tim Sweeney said developers should be free to decide how to build their games. "And you are free to decide whether to play them."

He added that Epic Games is not necessarily pro-crypto or non-fungible tokens (NFTs). "The firm isn't looking to enforce any views on the subject on its users." The company has previously incorporated NFTs into its games and raised $2 billion to "build the metaverse."

Taking to Twitter, Sweeney said: "I believe stores and operating systems makers shouldn't interfere by forcing their views onto others. We definitely won't." He was responding to a user asking whether Epic Games will follow Minecraft's lead.

Microsoft's Mojang Studios recently said that it will soon ban the use of NFTs on community-run Minecraft game servers.

Minecraft in an official statement said that blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside their client and server applications to ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience. It also banned the use of blockchain technology to create scarce digital assets in-game content such as worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods.
