Kolkata: The fervour surrounding the ongoing Euro Cup 2012 has reached prisons of West Bengal and authorities have given their nod to soccer-mad jailbirds' fervent pleas to be allowed to watch the clashes live on TV sets.

"With a view to engaging the inmates in something positive, we have arranged for live viewing of the Euro Cup games inside the correctional homes (jails). We have been receiving requests for the same from inmates across the state," Inspector General (Prisons) Ranvir Kumar told IANS.

Paris: AC Milan has confirmed the club is in negotiations for the sale of star Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

The Rossoneri's vice-president Adriano Galliani met with Paris Saint-Germain officials in the French capital Tuesday where he received a 50-million euro offer for the centre-back, Xinhua reported.

"There has been no agreement yet. We need to take our time but we will know shortly," Galliano said.

Silva's agent Paulo Fernando Tonietto said he was still uncertain about the 27-year-old's future.
