New Delhi: The Delhi Police have averted a possible terror strike in the capital as its Special Cell on Thursday night detained two suspected persons from the Old Delhi area.
Sources said the Special Cell raided a guest house in the Jama Masjid area last night and nabbed two suspected extremists, who are believed to be Kashmiris.
The Police also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the room the persons were staying in, including AK-47 rifles. That room has been sealed following the detentions.
The raid was carried out following a tip-off from Liyakat Shah, a Hizbul Mujahideen operative who was nabbed in Gorakhpur two days back by the Delhi Police.
Sources said the terrorists had recced parts of Delhi and planned to carry out strikes on Holi, which falls on March 27 (Wednesday).
The Hizbul operative arrested from Gorakhpur has been sent to police custody for 15 days.
