Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Congress (B) leader R. Balakrishna Pillai has sought the removal of his son and minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar from the Cabinet.

Balakrishna Pillai raised this demand during the talks held with UDF convenor P P Thankachan Tuesday morning.

Pillai said that Ganesh was not ready for any talks with him and is not been maintaining any contact with the party. Pillai has asked to discuss the issue at the next UDF meet to be convened on April 2.

The father and son have been at war for over a year. A letter making this demand was handed over to Chandy by an aide to the senior Pillai.

Pillai had earlier asked the lone cabinet nominee of the party and his son K B Ganesh Kumar to follow the party policy line if he wished to continue in the Congress-led ministry. He had also said that there was no rift between him and Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar.

Ganesh, who was under pressure from his party to resign his ministership or heed to party directives, had also said he would work for unity in the party headed by his father.
