New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday again deferred the pronouncement of its order whether to allow the National Investigating Agency (NIA) probe the case against two Italian marines who had allegedly killed two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast last year.
The apex court bench of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice A.R. Dave and Justice Vikramajit Sen had earlier deferred its order twice, first on April 16 and then on April 22.
Italy has questioned the jurisdiction of NIA to probe the case against the marines, but the contention was rejected by India. The Centre had on April 16 assured the apex court that the investigation would be completed within 60 days.
The two marines -- Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone -- were on board Italian vessel Enrica Lexie when they had allegedly shot dead two fishermen off the Kerala coast on February 15, 2012.
