Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on Tuesday announced power tariff revision for all categories of consumers.

Power tariff for domestic consumers has been hiked by 12 percent while tariff for industrial consumers has been increased by 7 percent.

The hike will not hit those whose consumption does not exceed 40 units a month.

Those consuming 200 units would have to incur a minor hike. Slab system has been excluded for those consuming over 300 units. Above 300 units, each unit would be charged according to a new slab system

The revised charges as follows: till 40 units the charge would be Rs 1.50/unit; 41-80 units would attract Rs 2.40 (old rate Rs 2.20); 81-120 units Rs 3 (old rate Rs 2.90); 121-150 units Rs 3.80 (Rs 3.60); 151-200 units Rs 5.30 (Rs 6.50); 201 - 300 units Rs 6.50 (Rs 6).

The revised rates will come into effect from May 1.
