New Delhi: There are 60 posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers lying vacant in Kerala, the government said on Thursday.
Across the nation, there is a shortfall of around 1,500 officers as against the total authorised strength of 6,217.
Uttar Pradesh with 135 posts of IAS officers lying vacant tops the list, followed by West Bengal (119), Madhya Pradesh (105) and Bihar (90), Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
There are 84 posts of IAS officers lying vacant in Jharkhand, 78 each in Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT), 75 in Rajasthan, 67 in Tamil Nadu, 62 in Maharashtra, 60 in Karnataka and 54 in Manipur and Tripura among others, he said.
