Palmolein case: Discharge petition rejected

Thrissur: The Thrissur Vigilance Court on Tuesday dismissed the discharge petition filed by former Food Minister T H Musthafa and former director of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation Jiji Thomson.

The petitioners had filed a petition seeking to discharge them from the case. The case will be taken up for hearing again on May 29.

The court will hear the discharge petition filed by former Chief Secretary S Padmakumar, former Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas and former Additional Chief Secretary Zachariah Mathew on Wednesday.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in import of about 15,000 tonnes of palmolein from Malaysia during 1991-92, causing a loss of Rs 2.32 crore to the state exchequer.
