New Delhi: The Centre will decide if South Korean steel maker Posco will get iron ore for its steel plant in Odisha.
The Supreme Court on Friday quashed Orissa high court's order which had set aside state govt's petition to allot iron ore licence to Posco in Khandadhar hills.
The apex court referred the matter to the Centre asking it to consider all objections raised by various parties against allotment of iron ore licence in the area.
The Korean steel major, which is not able to set up the unit for the past seven years due to land acquisition issues and agitation by the locals, has revised its land requirement to 2,700 acres from the earlier 4,000 acres.
It has also scaled down its production plan to 8 million tonnes in the first phase from 12 million tonne earlier.
