Kottayam: Adding a new dimension to the current round of flare-up in factionalism in the Congress, NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair Thursday alleged that his phone had been tapped by the intelligence wing of the state police.
Nair also alleged that though he had brought this to the notice of Home Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, no step had been taken on his complaint. The Home Minister, however, denied the NSS leader's charge.
"Tapping phone conversations is illegal and violation of human rights," Nair told reporters at the NSS headquarters at Perunna near here.
Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has asked Inspector General of Police (Ernakulam range) K. Padmakumar to inquire into the allegation.
