Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Saturday received widespread pre-monsoon showers, virtually bringing the scorching summer to an end.
"After the showers, the maximum temperature fell to 31.4 degree Celsius in Kochi and 30.3 degree Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram. The temperature has come down in all areas except the northern districts that received rainfall only in the afternoon," India Meteorological Department (IMD) sources said.
Alappuzha received the highest rainfall (98 mm) in the State on Saturday.
The rainfall activity is expected to increase in the coming days as a prelude to the monsoon.
India Meteorological Department, Thiruvananthapuram, has forecast widespread rainfall in the next four to five days. Met officials said the atmospheric conditions are favourable for the advancement of monsoon.
