Chennai: The emergency working committee meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held in Chennai on Sunday has asked N Srinivasan to step aside as BCCI President till investigation into IPL spot-fixing scandal is over.

The meet has entitled Jagmohan Dalmiya to take care of day-to-day affairs of BCCI. Dalmiya’s name was proposed by Arun Jaitley, who took part in the meeting through video conference along with Rajeev Shukla and Anurag Thakur.

The meet also asked BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale and Treasurer Ajay Shirke to withdraw their resignation.

The meeting was called after the BCCI's secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke quit on Friday on moral grounds. The pressure mounted on Srinivasan, whose son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been arrested for betting in IPL, after IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla too resigned Saturday.

Meiyappan was arrested on May 24 following the earlier arrests of three Rajasthan Royals cricketers as well as Bollywood star Vindoo Dara Singh on charges of spot fixing and betting.

Srinivasan faced mounting pressure on Sunday to step down before an emergency meeting.
