Self-financing medical managements withdraw from deal

Thiruvananthapuram: The self-financing medical managements on Friday withdrew from the deal made with the State government following the decision of J.M James Committee to annul the entrance examination held in Kozhikode on May 31 for admission to the MBBS management seats of nine self-financing medical colleges.

The exams were cancelled after irregularities were detected. Following it, the Committee had also recommended to conduct a re-examination on June 22 with the question paper set by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

Justice J M James Committee in charge of the exams noticed that question papers were leaked to students after receiving an amount of Rs 28 lakhs from them. The exam was held in only one centre in Kozhikode.

The conduct of the examination had run into rough weather with media reports of malpractice and students’ organisations taking out protest marches, some of which ended up in violence at the venue.
