Paris: Spaniard Rafael Nadal beat compatriot David Ferrer in straight sets to win his eighth French Open title at Roland Garros here Sunday.

The third seed won 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 over the fourth-seeded Ferrer to become the most successful player in French Open history, reports Xinhua.

The French Open title is also his twelfth Grand Slam title.

"It's one of the most special ones," the victorious Nadal said to the crowd.
