Thiruvananthapuram: BJP's decision to elevate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as head of the party's campaign committee for the Lok Sabha polls posed a "challenge to secularism and democracy," Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala on Monday said.
Attacking Modi's style of functioning, the Congress leader called for strengthening unity of democratic and secular forces to thwart the challenge posed by BJP under Modi's leadership.
"Modi's style of functioning went against secular and democratic ethos of the nation. His style is that of an autocrat. It is vital to strengthen the unity of democratic and secular forces to the threat posed by this development," Chennithala told reporters.
He said despite both LK Advani and Modi being "two sides of the same coin,” even Advani was finding it difficult to accept Modi.
