Left outfits’ march seeking CM’s resignation turns violent

Thiruvananthapuram: Various Left outfits Monday took out marches at different parts of the State demanding resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who has been accused in the solar scandal.

In Thiruvananthapuram, activists of DYFI took out march to the Assembly building demanding the chief minister‘s resignation. Police had to use grenades and water cannons to disperse the agitating crowd who tried to jump over the police barricades. Several activists who were injured in the incident were taken to hospital in police jeeps.

Janadipatya Mahila Association and RYF activists also took out a protest march earlier the day. The activists burnt an effigy of the chief minister and blocked the national highway.

March by the agitators in Kozhikode and Ernakulum also turned violent. In Kozhikode, almost 300 DYFI activists ignoring heavy rain marched to the Collectorate. Though the activists hurled stones at the police who blocked the march, as per reports nobody has been injured.

In Thrissur, Left activists staged a dharna demanding the resignation of the chief minister.
