Thiruvananthapuram: An office staff of the Public Grievance Redressal Cell in the Chief Minster’s office here has been suspended over a sexual harassment allegation.

Girish Kumar, one of the office staff members of Oommen Chandy, was suspended on Friday for using ‘vulgar language’ to a woman who called to the 24/7 call centre of the Public Grievance Redressal Cell of the CM’s office to file a complaint.

He was suspended after the woman filed a complaint alleging that Kumar, after her call, started phoning her regularly talking in indecent manner. “He even forced me to sleep with him,” accused the woman.

The woman called to the call centre to file a complaint related to her job. Girish Kumar, after noting down her mobile phone number, started making calls to her. He offered the woman a chance to meet the chief minister but only if she is ready to sleep with him. The woman said that even Girish’s friends started calling her from random numbers after she refused his ‘offer’.

The woman then sent an email complaint to the CM’s office on May 25. “But there was no respond to my complaint for a month,” she said.

"A third employee of the Chief Minister's Office has been fired within a few days. If Chandy can't manage his own office, how will he run the state?" said CPI-M legislator Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Earlier, two employees of the Chief Minister's office were removed and told to go on leave for having links with a couple who had allegedly cheated numerous people of Rs.5 crore after promising them solar panels.
