Thettayil need not to resign, says JD-S

Thiruvananthapuram: The Janata Dal - Secular, which met here on Tuesday, has decided there is no need for Jose Thettayil to resign.

State president Mathew T Thomas told reporters that the party would stand by the legislator giving him moral and political support.

“The decision was taken after consulting with senior leaders. There was no precedent which called for the resignation of the legislator,” he said.

The party decision will be conveyed to the LDF State committee, which is scheduled to meet here today.

Leaders of various LDF constituents have taken the stand that it was for the JD-S to take a decision on the issue.
