Thiruvananthapuram: As opposition LDF mounted pressure on the UDF government over the solar panel scam, an additional personal assistant of Chief Minister Oomen Chandy Wednesday resigned from the post, becoming the third person to be shunted out of the CMO over the issue.
Jikkumon Jacob has resigned from the post following allegation that he was having links with the solar scam accused Saritha Nair. He tendered his resignation to the Chief Minister, official sources said.
Jacob is the third person being shunted out of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in the wake of the scam and alleged connection of Nair with members of Chandy's personal staff.
His name was in the list of persons who contacted Nair frequently over phone.
Earlier, two of the Chief Minister's personal staff members, Tenny Joppan and Salim Raj were removed after they were found to have close links with Saritha Nair.
Salim Raj was suspended from service yesterday for "conduct unbecoming of his position."
The solar scam relates to the swindling of money to the tune of crores of rupees by Saritha Nair and her partner Biju Radhakrishnan by promising solar panel solutions and agencies to several people.
The CPI-M led LDF has been demanding the resignation of Chandy and a judicial probe into the issue which also disrupted assembly proceedings leading to suspension of the sitting till July 8.
