Kozhikode: Prominent CPI-M leader and former state secretary of NGO Union, C H Ashokan (61), passed away here Friday night.
Ashokan had been undergoing treatment at Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram where he breathed his last at 11 pm.
The ninth accused in the infamous T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, Ashokan, who was released from jail on bail, was the former secretary of party’s Onchiyam Area Committee.
Ashokan was one of the over 50 people who were arrested in connection with the case.
He is survived by his wife, Anitha, and two children.
