Thiruvananthapuram: With the solar panel scam continuing to turn the heat on Congress-led UDF government, the State government may opt for a CBI probe into the fraud case.
A high-level level meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday reportedly discussed the matter. The meeting was attended by Minister for Home Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Additional Directors General of Police T.P. Sen Kumar and A. Hemachandran.
Meanwhile, the CPM-led Opposition has come out against the government's move to hand over the probe to CBI.
"The idea is to destroy evidence in the case before the CBI starts its investigation. We will oppose any such move from the government," Deputy Leader of the Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told reporters here on Sunday.
It was also decided not to oppose the petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the solar scam.
