Kochi: Former Left Democratic Front minister Jose Thettayil, who has been missing from the public domain ever since a sexual harassment case was registered against him, came out on Wednesday.
Thettayil met his lawyer M K Damodharan and held talks at his residence at Kacherippadi here.
He also talked to the media after the meet and said he wasn’t hiding anywhere. “I didn’t go anywhere. I have been in Angamali,” said the MLA.
“The allegation against me is completely baseless. Since the matter is sub-judice, I am not saying anything about it. I have deposed everything before the court and don’t have anything more to say,” he said.
Thettayil said he knew the complainant as she was a voter of his constituency.
The High Court had earlier stayed all further proceedings against Thettayil the case. The order was issued by Justice P Bhavadasan on a petition by Thettayil seeking to quash the FIR registered against him in the case.
The Judge observed that prima facie no offence is disclosed in the complaint against Thettayil.
The court also issued notice to the complainant and said she would be heard on Thursday.
Thettayil, JD-S MLA from Angamally, is the first accused in the case while his son, Adarsh, is the second accused.
Aluva Police had on June 22 registered a case against Thettayil and his son for sexual harassment based on the complaint of a woman that she had been sexually harassed by the father and son.
