Tirur: Hundreds of DYFI activists waved black flags at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy while he was on his way to inaugurate the temporary centre of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University here on Saturday.

The protesters waved black flags at the CM near Thunchan College at Vakkad near here. The police had to forcefully remove the crowd to make way for the Chief Minister. The activists later blocked the roads disrupting traffic.

Police forces have been deployed in and around the University anticipating untoward incidents.

DYFI activists had earlier the day waved black flags the CM at Nedumabassery airport while he was returning from Delhi. Police had to resort to lathicharge at Athaniparamb and Thottakad to disperse the protesters.
