Kochi: The High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of former private secretary to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Tenny Joppen, who was arrested in connection with the alleged solar panel scam, which has been rocking the state for the last few weeks.

Justice S S Sathishchandran denied bail to Joppan accepting the prosecution argument that Joppen had full knowledge of the transactions of solar scam accused Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan.

“Despite being fully aware regarding the cases registered against them, Joppen maintained relationship with the accused and they 'share a common intention'. Investigation is going and if bail is granted, it will hamper probe," the prosecution stated.

He informed the court that Joppan had made financial benefits through the scandal.

Joppan was arrested on June 28 based on a petition of businessman Sreedharan Nair, alleging that he had been duped of a huge sum by Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan promising a plant installation deal with Joppan acting as middleman.
