Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI-M led Left Democratic Front (LDF) has begun an indefinite ‘day-night protest’ here demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who the LDF accuse of being involved in the solar scandal.

Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan inaugurated the protest in front of the Secretariate here on Monday.

CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that the LDF effort was not to topple the UDF government but “to ouster Oommen Chandy as the chief minister of the state”.

Since the involvement of the chief minister in the scandal has been revealed, his role should also be probed, said Vijayan.

LDF MLAs and MPs are also taking part in the protest along with other leaders and party men.

The ‘day-night protest’ is part of the ongoing LDF campaign seeking resignation of the chief minister.

Deputy leader of the Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the Front will begin same kind of protest at all the district centers in the state from 24 July.
