Recording Saritha Nair’s statement delayed

Kochi: Revelation of the names revealed by Saritha S Nair before a magistrate on Saturday is likely to take time as the court did not record her statement on Tuesday.

The court was to record the confidential statement of Saritha today (Tuesday) in which she has reportedly named some of the biggies in the state politics as involved in the solar scandal. The court however said it would seek the opinion of the head of the probing team before recording the statement.

Fenny Balakrishnan, the lawyer of Saritha Nair, said that the court would record the statement on Friday. “I will reveal the details after that. You have to wait till 26th (July),” Fenny told reporters outside the court.

Fenny also said he was not facing any pressure from any quarters regarding the case.

Saritha had made some confidential statements before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) Court at Ravipuram on Saturday.

Saritha expressed her desire to speak to the court in private when she was produced there along with her partner Biju Radhakrishnan as their remand period came to an end. The court granted Saritha permission and later recorded her statement for about half an hour in the presence of her lawyer and a government prosecutor.

With heavy media presence outside the courtroom, the court warned those present against leaking Saritha’s private statement. The court also asked Fenny Balakrishnan to submit the statements in writing.
