Kochi: The High Court has adjourned ruling on the bail plea of television actress and former Censor Board member Shalu Menon, who was arrested in connection with the Solar Panel scam.
Director General of Police T Asaf Ali has reportedly told the court that the actress is directly involved in the case as she herself had accepted 46 lakh rupees from the complainants. “The money was handed over to her at Chennai Silks. The employees of the Silks are witness to this,” said the DGP.
Further probe is needed in the case. The statements of the witnesses are yet to be recorded. At this point, granting bail to the accused will affect the investigation, he said opposing the bail.
Shalu Menon, the second accused in the solar panel scandal, moved the High Court after her bail application was rejected by Thrissur First Class Magistrate earlier.
The High Court which considered the plea last Thursday adjourned hearing on it to July 23. It was again postponed to Wednesday.
It was reported that kingpin Biju Radhakrishnan embezzled Rs 75 lakh from NRI businessman Rafeeq Ali, with the help of Shalu Menon. Shalu was arrested from her house on July 6, by the Changanacherry police.
