New Delhi: The Union government has given sanction for prosecution of Inspector General of Police Tomin Thachankary in a case relating to alleged amassment of wealth.
Following the Centre’s sanction, the Thrissur vigilance court will file the charge sheet against Thachankary next week.
The Thrissur Vigilance Additional Legal advisor had sought the Central government’s approval to prosecute him in the cases.
The court has also asked the government to submit its explanation on the delay in granting permission by August 22.
The case is that Thachankary had amassed around Rs 65 lakh beyond his known sources of income during 2003 to 2005. The Vigilance had submitted its report on it before the Central government six months ago.
