LDF to continue its protest for Chandy’s resignation

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst reports that the LDF called off its secretariat siege after an understanding with the ruling UDF government, CPI-M State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday made it clear that the party hadn’t backed off from its demand for the resignation of chief minister Oommen Chandy.

“We stick to our demand that the chief minister should step down and face judicial investigation. The protest will continue till he quits. Ending the secretariat siege is just the beginning of the upcoming protests,” said Vijayan at a press conference here.

“Oommen Chandy will have to face people’s ire if he chooses to remain in office. We won’t let him work outside his office,’ Vijayan asserted.

He shrugged off criticism from BJP and RMP who alleged conspiracy behind the LDF decision to call off the siege before meeting its both the demand.

“They have been just viewers of the LDF protests. They haven’t done anything to protest the corruption engulfed the UDF government. So, no point in their remarks,” said the CPI-M stalwart.
