Kalimannu film promotion goes hi-tech

Kochi: Controversial Malayalam film 'Kalimannu', which faced protests for including the real delivery scene of actress Shwetha Menon, is all set to be released on August 23 and will be promoted through mobile application.

Shwetha and Biju Menon are the lead pair in the film, directed by Blessy.

'Kalimanuu' is the first South Indian movie to be promoted through such apps. The movie's mobile applications will be available on Android, Blackberry and Apple platforms and be downloaded free of cost on mobiles and tablets.

The app contains a brief introduction of the film, its songs, cast and crew details and photos, picturisation of songs, audio releases, link to Facebook page and the ringtone code for mobiles.

The popular numbers 'Lalee--la le le lalee..' and 'Shalabhamayi' and full version of other songs have also been included in the app to enable easy download.

The movie had courted controversy for its real delivery scenes of Swetha Menon. Five member women members of the Censor board had viewed the film after which it was certified in the U/A category.

Its release had run into rough weather after some exhibitors demanded chopping off of the delivery scene.

While Blessy described the film as a tribute to motherhood, many people, including Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan, had voiced their opinion against the film.

The matter had reached Kerala High Court also but a division bench had earlier this month refused to intervene, saying the actress had consented to the shooting of her delivery and there was no violation of her fundamental right.
