Thiruvananthapuram: A car carrying Kerala government chief whip PC George, who had recently come out against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over the solar panel scam, was Wednesday pelted with rotten eggs by a group of Youth Congress activists at Thodupuzha in Idduki District, police said.
The activists hurled rotten eggs on the car in which George was returning after attending a function and tried to block his way before police chased away the crowd using lathis, police said.
George, a nominee of UDF partner Kerala Congerss (Mani), had often openly criticised the front government on many issues. Recently, he had come out against Chandy on the solar panel scam which has been rocking the State for the past two months.
This had irked Youth Congress and they had declared that they would hold protests against George.
In retaliation to the attack, Youth Front Activists, the youth wing of KC-M, burned the effigy of Chandy in Irattupetta, police added.
KC-M leader and Finance Minister K M Mani condemned the attack on George.
