Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan has recommended to Chief Minister Ommen Chandy to take necessary steps to revoke the appointment of MG University Vice- Chancellor A.V George.
The Chief Secretary’s report recommending action against the Vice- Chancellor was made on the basis of a report submitted by Additional Chief Secretary (higher education). A copy of the recommondation has also been given to Education Minister P.K Abdu Rabb.
The report stated that the Vice-Chancellor was appointed by flouting UGC norms. It also pointed out flaws in sanctioning off-campus centres and the creation of new posts.
The Governor had earlier issued a show-cause notice to Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Vice-Chancellor A.V. George on the issue of sanctioning 77 off-campus centres under the university.
The notice that was issued on August 21 stated that there were violations in the university move and they had come to light on the basis of a report submitted by the State government.
