Kochi: More arrests are likely in connection with the smuggling of 20 kg of gold from Dubai recently.

"So far four persons have been arrested in this connection and more arrests can take place," Customs Commissioner K N Raghavan told PTI.

Asked about reports that two customs officials were being investigated in the case, Raghavan neither confirmed nor denied it.

A comprehensive investigation by the customs department was on. As of now, neither CBI nor Vigilance had taken over the probe, he said.

In the biggest gold haul at an Indian airport, 20 kg of gold bars had been seized last week from two women passengers who arrived here from Dubai. They were arrested after they managed to come out of the green channel. One of their accomplice was also arrested.

Fayaz, the fourth accused, was arrested from New Delhi two days ago when he was about to leave for Dubai. He had been brought here yesterday for interrogation.

During interrogations, Fayaz has reportedly revealed the names of the two customs officials, customs sources said.

The name of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's personal staff Jikkumon Jacob, who had to resign in the wake of the Solar Panel scam, is also being linked to Fayaz.

Maintaining that he had done no wrong, Jikkumon said he was ready to face any investigation to bring out the truth. He said his mobile phone number was known to many people when he was in the CM's office.
