Report says Fayaz visited TP murder accused in jail

Kozhikode: A police report has said that Fayaz, the prime accused in the case relating to smuggling of 20 kgs of gold from Dubai to Kochi, visited some of the accused of the TP Chandrasekharan murder case in the jail.

The report, submitted by the jail DIG, has been approved by the DGP. It will be handed over to the Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Monday.

The report says that Fayaz visited Kodi Suni, P Mohanan, Kirmani Manoj and T K Rajeesh, who are accused in the TP murder case in the jail on August 5. The visit was with the help of jail warden Shilesh.

According to the jail protocol, a person who wants to visit any jail inmates should give a written application. The identity cards of the visitor should also be checked before letting him in. as per the procedure, the meeting should be monitored by the welfare officer of the jail. However, the report says that none of the criteria were followed in the case of Fayaz.

Meanwhile, the authorities have frozen at least ten bank accounts of Fayiz and three custom officers -- Customs Deputy Commissioner C Madhavan, Preventive Officers Sunil Kumar and Toni -- in connection with the gold smuggling case.
