Kozhikode: The authorities are likely to take action against some of the jail staff in the Kozhikode district jail over the visit of Fayaz, prime accused in the Cochin airport gold smuggling case, to the accused in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case.

The action is on the basis of a report submitted by Kozhikode District Jail DIG Shivadas K Thaiparampu. Though Alexander Jacob, the jail DGP, has handed over the report to the Home Ministry, minster Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is yet to go through it as he is engaged with programmes related to the visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Fayaz is the prime accused in the case relating to smuggling of 20 kgs of gold from Dubai to Kochi.

The report says that Fayaz visited Kodi Suni, P Mohanan, Kirmani Manoj and T K Rajeesh, who are accused in the TP murder case in the jail on August 5. The visit was with the help of jail warden Shilesh.

According to the jail protocol, a person who wants to visit any jail inmates should give a written application. The identity cards of the visitor should also be checked before letting him in. As per the procedure, the meeting should be monitored by the welfare officer of the jail. However, the report says that none of the criteria were followed in the case of Fayaz.
