Kozhikode: The district administration here has issued a show-cause notice to Thejas Newspaper for spreading anti-national reports.
The administration issued the notice asking the management of the newspaper why the publication of the newspaper should not be stopped.
The notice further states that the paper publishes articles, editorials and reports that harm the unity and interest of the country. It asks why action should not be taken against the publication of the daily.
Meanwhile, the management of the daily asked the people’s representatives, media and other democratic centers to react against the government’s move.
The managing editor and publisher of the daily Prof. P Koya, at a press conference here on Friday, said that the authorities hadn’t been able to produce any proof to establish the allegations leveled against the newspaper.
The government is raising ‘serious’ allegations without any responsibility and backing of proof, he added.
