Kozhikode: Congress leader K Muraleedharan has condemned the State government’s decision to go mild on the severe allegations against controversial IPS officer Tomin Thachankary.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Muraleedharan lashed out at the UDF government for its decision to promote IG Thachankary despite the report submitted by DGP against him.
“The stand of the government on the issue is not right. It’s strange that a government decides to promote a tainted officer as a punishment,” said the Congress leader.
A report submitted by DGP K.S. Balasubramaniam to the chief secretary had pointed out grave breach of conduct in the service of Thachankary.
Despite the repost, the government issued an order promoting him to the post of ADGP.
According to reports, the decision to promote Thachankary was taken on the basis of the directive from the Central Administrative Tribunal to consider the promotion as the inquiry against him was lagging.
