Kochi: The Ernakulam Additonal Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) Court here on Saturday denied bail to Fayas, accused of aiding smuggling of gold through the Cochin international airport.
The court said that granting of bail to Faiz could adversely affect the investigation into the case.
The prosecution said that Fayas had confessed to aiding smuggling operations and conspiring with Customs officials to illegally bring in gold.
The Customs had on Friday submitted that more investigation was needed into the case and granting bail to Fayas would affect the probe.
Meanwhile, the court remanded Customs Assistant Commissioner Dr Anil Kumar (30) and his driver Jithu alias Rajith (33) into five days of CBI custody for further interrogation.
