Kochi: Kerala High Court on Monday observed it was wrong in considering the discharge petition of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman P.J Kurien without hearing the version of the victim.

The court made this observation when hearing the victim's plea seeking further investigation into the case.

“The earlier judgement of 2006 discharging Kurien was against the principles of natural justice as the girl was not heard,” the court said.

The judge has reserved its order in the case.

The case relates to abduction and serial rape of a 16-year-old schoolgirl of Suryanelli in Idukki district by 42 men over 41 days in January-February 1996.
