Kozhikode: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday carried out a raid at the office of Malabar Gold in Kozhikode in connection with the gold haul at Karipur airport.

According to sources, DRI officials conducted raids on the basis of the statement given by Shahbaz, a key member of the smuggling gang.

Raids were conducted at the corporate office of the jewellery at Ram Mohan Road and the residents of T.V Muhammed Ashraf, director of Malabar Gold Ornament Makers Pvt Ltd and Manager Mujeeb.

Officials confirmed after the raid that they did not find any documents regarding the illegal gold transactions at the office of the jewellery.

Meanwhile, chairman of Malabar group M.P Ahammed rejected the allegations saying that the group had never received the gold from the smugglers.

“The statement of Shahbaz is baseless. There may be some interests behind the revelation,” he said.
