Thiruvananthapuram: As the renovation work is under progress at the Moolamattom power house, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has imposed power supply restrictions across the State on Sunday and Monday.
The shutdown, which began at 11 p.m. on Saturday and would end at 5 p.m. on Monday, is for the renovation work of the centralised air-conditioning and ventilation facility at the Moolamattom power house.
The heat generated by the underground power generating units could not be kept at the permissible level when the engineers switch off the air-conditioning facility for the renovation work. Therefore, the turbines would have to be stopped, sources said.
The shutdown would result in a shortage of 400 MW to satisfy the demand during the daytime hours and 700 MW during the evening hours of peak power consumption, the KSEB said.
