Thiruvananthapuram: CPI-M state secretariat has found fault in party mouthpiece Deshabhimani’s decision to accept an advertisement from controversial businessman V.M. Radhakrishnan aka 'Chakku' Radhakrishnan.
V.M. Radhakrishnan tried to put the party in trouble giving the advertisement. But the advertisement department of Deshabhimani failed to realize it, a press release from the party secretariat said.
There reports that the CPI-M central leadership had directed the state secretariat to look into the circumstances under which the advertisement of controversial businessman was carried by the party mouthpiece on the concluding day of CPM state plenum.
Though there were reports of possible disciplinary action against the party leaders responsible for the fiasco, the secretariat hasn’t found any mistake from the part of E P Jayarajan, Deshabhimani general manager. A few years ago Jayarajan was removed as Deshabhimani GM after row over accepting bonds from lottery king Santiago Martin.
CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi VIjayan had earlier said that Radhakrishnan had inserted the ad on the concluding day of the plenum for gaining the maximum publicity. “But we need to think whether the comrades in Deshabhimani could think on those lines," he said, indicating his displeasure over the incident.
Vijayan didn't blame Deshabhimani completely for the fiasco. He said the advertisement and editorial divisions of Deshabhimani were being run professionally and they find their means for sustenance.
