Idukki: Unfazed by protests by the LDF workers and High Range Samrakshana Samiti, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy began his Mass Contract Programme at Thodupuzha here on Monday.
Inaugurating the programme, the Chief Minister said a main objective of Mass Contact Programme was to have a first-hand knowledge of difficulties faced by people in receiving various government services.
“The programmes launched by the government for the betterment of people do not reach to them. What I aim through the 'Jana Samparka Paripadi' is to give people an easy access to such programmes,” Chandy said adding, “due to various rules people are not getting even their fair demands met.”
The Chief Minster also said he would stand with the people living in the high range areas in the Kasturirangan issue.
The Chief Minister will first meet selected 271 applicants at the venue set up at the Newman College ground here. He will later receive applications from the other complainants. Officials said that there are altogether 4007 complaints.
About 2250 police personnel have been deployed at the programme venue.
